DISMANTLING RACISM TRAININGS

​Dismantling Racism training seeks to increase "racial understanding, healing and reconciliation." It is offered several times throughout the year and is required for all parish clergy and all lay leaders, including vestry members. Trainings are offered by The Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing.
The training was adjusted in 2012 to "reflect the fruit of several conversations conducted by the Beloved Community: Commission for Dismantling Racism (now The Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing)," said Dr. Catherine Meeks, executive director of the Center "We re-framed the training in a way that makes the experience a part of the ongoing spiritual formation of the participants."

Currently, Dismantling Racism Training is held online via Zoom from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT. There will be breaks during the class and a lunch break. Classes are first come, first serve. The class you register for may be full although it does not show "Registration Closed" next to the date. Each class is limited to 20 people. No more than six people from the same parish/group/organization can take the class on the same day.
To participate in the online training, you must have access to video and audio capabilities on your computer or mobile device. Please be sure these capabilities are functioning on the day of your class, if not, you will be removed from the class. Although this is an online class, you are required to be on screen during the class. If two people in the same home/building are taking the class on the same day, they MUST be on two separate devices in different rooms. NO EXCEPTIONS. In-person classes will resume when permitted. All in-person classes are held only at parishes throughout the Diocese of Atlanta.​

REMEMBER, CLASS REGISTRATION IS BASED ON FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. THE DATE YOU SELECT MAY BE FULL EVEN IF IT DOES NOT SHOW 'REGISTRATION CLOSED'. You will be notified if the class you select is full.

OUTSIDE OF THE DIOCESE OF ATLANTA
For those outside of or not affiliated with the Diocese of Atlanta, there is a $50.00 fee per person for the class. Payments are non-refundable. If you cannot attend the class you registered for, you can select another date within the same year. To change your date, send an email to the address below.
